Adelaide was the daughter of the Count of Guelder. She eventually took charge of the two nunneries that her father founded. First, she was the abbess of the convent at Bellich, near Bonn, and another one. She was a Benedictine abbess, and made her nuns study Latin so that they could follow the Divine Office. She died in 1015.
This isn't Lucy's saint, is it? Probably not. Oh, well. ;-)
ReplyDeleteNo, it isn't. —John Paul
DeleteThis one was so interesting, John Paul! That's so cool that she had all of the nuns learn Latin so they could follow the Divine Office, I didn't know that. Great job! :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, she's not that well-known, I only just heard of her. Thanks! —John Paul
DeleteShe sounds like a Saint for me, I'm starting to pray the Divine Office regularly. I could do with the help! Thank you JP
